The Noose is a gripping drama, skillfully translated by Dr. Asselin Charles from Frankétienne's acclaimed play "Pèlen Tèt." Frankétienne, widely recognized as Haiti’s greatest living writer and a Nobel Prize nominee, crafted this cornerstone of Haitian theatre, celebrated for its powerful storytelling. The play depicts the journey of two Haitian immigrants—a middle-class intellectual and a peasant—whose clash, banter, and eventual unity unfold in a New York City basement apartment during the 1980s, as they fight for dignity in a world determined to crush their American dreams.
